RyISE Neo

Research of young Indian Scientists in Neonatology

E database and Learning Together Series

A NOVEL RESEARCH INITIATIVE

What is E-database?

Young Indian Scientists are investigating pertinent questions in neonatal health and allied fields. Most of these are not published. The valuable observations remain unknown to clinicians and untapped by the community.

The RyISE proposes to nurture budding scientists and their ideas. All unpublished scientific work that has an association with the newborn infant would be accepted e.g., perinatology, pediatric medicine or surgery, ophthalmology, both basic science and clinical (research that pertains to newborn health). Research that has been done as a part of award of university degrees/fellowships or any academic training that mandates such research work.

Researchers could include clinicians, scientists, and allied health professionals.

The RyISE E-database will list all titles of research done in neonatology in India on the website. This will allow networking of researchers and opportunities to learn from experience.

None of the submitted research titles will be rejected. Each one of the “explored solutions” has the most important component right: “the need to solve a problem”.

Limitations in study designs, potential bias, incorrect statistical methods, small sample size of enrolled population, inaccurate details of methods, and incorrectly framed research question are common reasons for publication rejection (“imperfect” and hence lost research). RyISE will look for research work with good ideas, suggest improvements and encourage renewed efforts.

The submitted research work will be evaluated by a panel of experienced teachers; they would be scored for their research ideas, utility, implications, value of the data, and novelty by a process of constructive appraisal of methodology and the report.

What is Learning Together Series (LTS)?

LTS is an opportunity for selected young scientists to present their research work to a panel of senior reviewers. The oral presentation will be for 30 minutes. There will be a critical appraisal and constructive suggestions for improvement provided during these sessions.

Ideas of young scientists shared with experienced teachers will pave the path for nascent to improved research work.

Every year, 20 young scientists will be invited to “Learning together series.” RyISE will support the travel and accommodation of the selected young scientists.
